With lockdown restrictions beginning to ease soon, you might want to know what events you can pencil in the calendar for later on in the year.
From the famous Festival Fringe to Comic Con, there's tons of stuff to do in Edinburgh in 2021. Take a look below at some of the best...
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe - All-over the city
The Fringe takes place every year for 3 weeks in August and is the biggest performing arts festival in the world. It features hundreds of events including music, comedy, spoken word, art, street performers and lots more. Find out more about the festival here (link to fringe article).
When: 6th-30th August
Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival - Edinburgh Corn Exchange
Like a craft beer? Then you'll feel right at home at the Craft Beer Festival. There will be over 30 world class breweries, tasty food and live music throughout the day. You can grab a ticket here for £49.50 - but this gets you a taste of any beer, a free glass and access to the pop-up kitchens!
When: 21st-22nd August
Race for Life: Pretty Muddy - Edinburgh Royal Highland Centre
This one's for you if you relish a challenge and don't mind getting down and dirty. You'll have to make your way through The Race for Life: Pretty Muddy 5K event by either climbing or crawling past obstacles on grassy fields - so definitely bring a change of clothes! What's more it's for a fantastic cause in Cancer Research. A ticket to enter costs £20.

Big Big Gin Festival - Edinburgh Corn Exchange
If your favourite tipple on a night out is a refreshing glass of gin and tonic, then you're going to love the Big Big Gin Festival. You'll be able to sample gins from various distilleries offering household names and newcomers, and you get to try some interesting flavoured gins!
When: 24th-26th September
Edinburgh Comic Con - Edinburgh Royal Highland Centre
The popular Comic Con will be returning to Edinburgh in October to the delight of pop culture fans all over the country. Everyone dresses up as their favourite characters from films, tv shows and comics and you'll also be able to buy replica props and outfits to help you get in character. It's a great day out!
When: 9th-10th October
Edinburgh Horror Fest - Edinburgh Dungeon, Banshee Labyrinth and Lauriston Castle
With Halloween approaching, what better time to get in the spooky spirit? The Horror Fest lasts for 10 days and will host events around magic, comedy, games, movies, theatre and so much more. It's all staged in the Lauriston Castle, the Edinburgh Dungeon and Banshee Labyrinth to add to the eeriness.
When: 21st-31st October
Edinburgh Zoo Christmas Nights - Edinburgh Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo is amazing at the best of times, but it's even more magical at Christmas. The Christmas Nights start on 19th November and feature a fantastic light trail to accompany you on your journey around the zoo seeing all your favourite animals. Tickets are £18.
When: 19th November - 2nd January
Edinburgh Art Fair - Edinburgh Corn Exchange
The Corn Exchange will host the 17th edition of the Edinburgh Arts Fair - the most prestigious arts fair in the UK outside London. There will be 65 galleries exhibited, with works from over 500 artists from around the globe. Grab your student tickets here for just £2!
Edinburgh Christmas Markets - Princes Street Gardens
It doesn't truly feel like Christmas until the Christmas markets are kitted out and you have a mulled wine in your hand. The Markets fill Princes Gardens selling everything from crafts, clothes, toys and classic Scottish produce like mulled Irn Bru and vegan haggis pigs in blankets. Santa Land will return to bring the festive cheer with rides for everyone, whilst there will also be a grotto on Castle Street. If you need a few small gifts, here will be your best bet!
When: 14th November - 2nd January
White Christmas - Edinburgh Playhouse
If you like musicals, then this might just be your cup of tea. This brand-new production comes straight from the West End to the magnificent Edinburgh playhouse to bring the spirit of Christmas, including the hit song 'White Christmas'. Tickets cost just £13!
When: 14th December - 2nd January
