Your guide to Scottish Borders SU

By bzemily 17 Jul 2019

Being a HWU student gives you access to the amazing Scottish Borders Student Union. Ran by students, for students: the student union gives you a voice, allowing you to raise issues, share experiences, and most importantly make friends!

So, what's available at the Scottish Borders SU?

The Thread

Exclusive to all Heriot-Watt students (not just students on the Scottish Borders Campus), The Thread is your social space, chill space, even your party space!

Whether your looking to grab a coffee in between lectures or cosy up to watch your favourite film with friends, The Thread is the place to be.

It's located in the John Muir Student Village, so remember to bring your student card with you - Heriot-Watt students only!

Advice and Support

Here to help when you need it, the student office is located in The Thread social space and you can drop in at any time for any queries or worries you may have. Don't fret, if we can't help we'll put you in touch with someone who can.

Union Cafe

Fancy a cuppa or a bite to eat? Then look no further, the Union Cafe has a huge selection of meals - hot and cold - at an affordable price to keep you energised throughout the day.

The main menu changes daily, including a soup of the day, salad bar and jacket potatoes to enjoy for lunch, or even as a quick snack.

The Shop

Whether you are looking for some art supplies or stationery, the shop has shelves stocked with all the items you may need for your course. With a low and friendly price you don't have to worry about breaking the bank when shopping on campus for any items you need ASAP.

If you're hungry for a midnight snack then get down to the campus shop: there is a wide selection of crisps and chocolate for you to devour. For lunch you can choose from a variety of freshly made sandwiches and other snacks to fill you up and get you ready for lectures.

Looking to join a society? The student union offers a wide range of societies for you to get behind so don't be shy!
